Meet the Team: Human Resource Manager Bobbie Tharrington

Here at The Owl's Nest, we know that quality addiction treatment isn’t just about the programs we offer—it’s the dedicated people who make recovery possible every day. Our staff recognition blog is here to shine a light on the incredible individuals who go above and beyond to support our clients and their families. Each month, we’ll feature a standout team member, sharing their story, passion for this work, and the impact they’ve made. It’s our way of celebrating the people who make healing happen while giving you a glimpse into the compassionate team behind our care.

What inspired you to work in the field of substance abuse treatment?

On May 7th, 2010 I came to The Owl's Nest for treatment. I've been sober ever since. I was in treatment for 132 days and during that time this place became my home. After treatment I had the opportunity to work here. I love helping others so it was a no brainer.

What do you find most rewarding about working at Owl’s Nest?

Getting to watch people come in broken down, like I was, and be given a chance to start over. Seeing the light come back on in people's eyes. Watching families get restored.

How do you motivate yourself and stay positive in challenging situations?

I remember that one time, not too long ago, life was dark and everything seemed devoid of hope. But the light came back. It always does. Sometimes we just need to be loved until we can love ourselves.

What is a personal value or belief that you bring to your work?

Don't forget where you came from. Keep God and sobriety first. Everything you put second will be first class.

What’s one thing your coworkers might be surprised to learn about you?

I'm pretty much an open book around here. What you see is what you get. My sobriety is the most important thing in my life. If it wasn't for my sobriety I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have the beautiful relationship I have with my 2 daughters, my granddaughter and my 2 sisters. I sponsor ladies everyday. My life is awesome.

In three words, how would you describe yourself?

Honest, open-minded, strong-willed.

If you could share one piece of advice with someone entering this field, what would it be?

Keep God and recovery first, because anything you put in front of your recovery you will surely lose. I have seen this happen over and over again. Life in recovery is better than anything you could have ever planned.

Any fun facts or hidden talents you’d like to share?

I used to play the keyboard in church, rode horses, dirt bikes and 4 wheelers. I was raised on a tobacco farm. I played softball. I'm an outdoor girl. Those were the good days!!
