Drug & Alcohol Addiction Experts
Addiction Treatment Team
For many clients, coming to Owl’s Nest feels like coming home; for some, to the type of supportive caring home they never had. Our addiction treatment team is a tightly knit community of professionals who have the empathy and experience to help any man or woman find recovery from addiction.
In fact, the majority of our treatment team members are alumni of Owl’s Nest themselves! Not only is this proof of how deeply our clients become connected to our community; but also, that firsthand experience allows our team members the ability to connect with each client on a profound level. Our team has been in your shoes, and they can show you the way to let new hope take flight.

Susan Dare
Business Office Associate
Having been Owl’s Nest adjacent for years, it was only right that I would eventually wind up working here. My husband has been with The Nest for over a decade and my son came through the program in 2018 - needless to say I care about this program very much.
Before working in treatment I spent 36 years as a Branch Manager/VP for SunTrust. After seeing all the people Owl’s Nest has helped find recovery from addiction, I knew I wanted to help out in any way I could. Watching people find themselves in sobriety and put their lives back together is the ultimate joy. When I’m not at work I love to spend time with grandchildren and read. I’m a big believer in the saying, “You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you.”
Bobbie Tharrington
Human Resources Manager
For more than 13 years, I have been working hard to make The Owl’s Nest a haven for those seeking recovery — both as a client myself and now as an employee.
More than 13 years ago, I was in a detox facility. My family had an intervention with the coaches and decided to bring me to Owl’s Nest. I had lost all I had: my job, my 401K, my car, my home, etc. Alcohol and drugs came first.
More than a decade later, I’m now an Owl’s Nest success story, dedicated to paying the gift of recovery forward and to give others hope. It’s a new design for living. Watching firsthand how the clients come back to life, the light comes back in their eyes. Every time I get to attend a commencement, I think, “God is the great restorer.”
When not at work, I love playing with her granddaughter. She’s the light of my life. I also enjoy reading, watching old movies, and spending time with my family. They never gave up on me, and now I’ll never give up on our clients.
To anyone out there pursuing recovery: Keep God and sobriety first, and everything you put second will be first-class.

Mackenzie Parrott
Primary Therapist
I may have started working for Owl’s Nest in 2023 but I’ve been a part of this community since I came through the program as a client 5 years ago. In some ways, I never really left! This place saved my life and gave me hope when I didn’t think there was any left. You’re not just a number at The Nest, you’re part of a family. It’s why even after I finished the program, I continued to volunteer and eventually started sponsoring others on their journey. I found my passion here.
As a therapist I am given the opportunity to help others who feel just as lost and hopeless as I once did. I know what that feels like and I know that just on the other side of fear is freedom. “The important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.”
When I’m not in a session, you can find me reading, spending time with family and fur babies, and staying active in my recovery community.
Elle Gabbard
Case Manager
Meet Elle, one of our caring Case Managers. Originally from Delaware, Elle has been with Owl’s Nest Recovery since 2021. She loves the camaraderie and love that fill the Owl’s Nest campus. When she’s not at work, Elle spends her time at the gym, hanging out with friends, and cooking. Elle has found that when you work a job you love, you never work a day in your life — and she has this at Owl’s Nest.
Wil Price
Case Manager
Like many of my colleagues, my connection to Owl’s Nest started with me as a resident. I had struggled with substance abuse and was acutely aware of the mental and emotional anguish that comes along with it. I tried to stop on my own with no success. It wasn’t until I came through the program here that I found true recovery and sobriety.
That was at the beginning of 2022 and since 2023 I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to give back. Starting as a certified behavioral health technician, I was promoted into a case management role where I’m able to be of service to my fellow alcoholics and addicts. I am a firm believer in the quote, “I am responsible, when anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of A.A. always to be there. And for that I am responsible.”
Outside of work I am pursuing a degree in social work and am actively involved in the AA community.

Scott Dare
Behavioral Health Technician
Being on the frontlines of recovery affords me the opportunity to see men and women transform their lives right before my eyes. Many of the friends who I first met here, have dedicated their lives to helping others. Some have started recovery facilities, some work at recovery centers. Some have a Christian ministry and so many are married with children and have successful careers. All of these alumni came here broken, just as I did. I am blessed to have 3 amazing grandchildren and a family I love. "I have learned that there is more power in a good strong hug than in a thousand meaningful words." - Ann Hood.
Gary Frassanito
Driver / Behavioral Health Technician
Nutrition Services
Michael Cathcart
Kitchen Manager
It’s the opportunity to give back what was so freely given to me that I love most about working at The Nest. Coming through here as a client for alcoholism gave me a deep appreciation for this program and the folks working here. I knew that if the chance arose, I wanted to be a part of the staff that were helping others and as of 2023, I have that ability.
Before coming to work at Owl’s Nest, I worked in IT infrastructure for The University of South Carolina and Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC. Education has always been important to me and I currently hold a Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Business Administration from USC, and a Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University Extension School. I am a Certified Peer Support Specialist and certified in Mental Health First Aid alongside having a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling.
When I’m not on campus I enjoy spending time in the gym, watching science fiction movies, and studying the stars.
