What inspired you to work in the field of substance abuse treatment?

My personal journey through addiction, coupled with growing up in a family affected by substance abuse, ignited my passion to support others facing similar challenges.

What do you find most rewarding about working at Owl’s Nest?

Witnessing the profound transformation in our patients—from their initial vulnerability upon arrival to their empowered readiness to embrace life anew as they progress through each phase of treatment—is incredibly fulfilling.

How do you motivate yourself and stay positive in challenging situations?

I embody the principles we impart to our patients, recognizing that our shared experiences of human suffering create a foundation for mutual healing. Assisting them in their recovery journey simultaneously reinforces my own resilience and positivity.

What is a personal value or belief that you bring to your work?

I firmly believe that “faith without works is dead,” emphasizing the importance of active effort in conjunction with belief.

What’s one thing your coworkers might be surprised to learn about you?

I possess some impressive dance moves that might catch them off guard!

What’s the best advice you’ve received in your career, and how has it shaped you?

Being reminded that “we had to quit playing God” has been pivotal. It instilled in me the understanding that I am not a savior, but rather a guide and support in others’ recovery journeys.

If you could share one piece of advice with someone entering this field, what would it be?

Cultivate deep empathy, truly understand the individuals you serve—especially if you lack personal experience with addiction—and immerse yourself in the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Embracing this program as a way of life can profoundly enhance your effectiveness and connection in this field.

Any fun facts or hidden talents you’d like to share?

Beyond my professional role, I have a rich array of hobbies and interests: gardening, tufting, singing, dancing, cooking (regardless of the outcome!), continuous learning, painting, and a deep devotion to my faith.
