How Owl’s Nest Helped Meghan Get Sober

When Meghan walked into the Owl’s Nest, she didn’t know what she was looking for, but she did know her current way of life wasn’t working. Years of trying to outrun her addiction had left her exhausted, defeated, and with a willingness to try something different. What she found here wasn’t just sobriety. It was connection. It was community. It was a fresh start.

“I Thought I Could Fix It with the Perfect Life…”

Like a lot of us, Meghan's addiction didn’t start in chaos—it started in high school, with weekend partying. But the nature of addiction is progressive and over time it morphed into something she couldn’t control.

“I started out drinking and outusing my friends. They would stop using, and I would continue.”

Meghan was able to maintain a functional lifestyle for a while. She was able to hold it together through college, but her life eventually unraveled. She started losing jobs, relationships, and any sense of stability. When this happened, she turned to surface-level solutions.

“I thought if I had the perfect job or the right amount of money or the perfect man… that all these nice things would fix it.”

Spoiler: they didn't.

The Revolving Door of Rehab

Unable or unwilling to admit complete defeat, Meghan fell into the cycle of 12-step meetings, white-knuckling it, different rehabs, etc.

“I was in and out of rehabs for the next several years. My life started becoming unmanageable.”

Sound familiar? She wanted to get sober—but she wasn’t sure how. Something was missing.

“And Then Someone Suggested Owl’s Nest…”

On the suggestion of a friend, Meghan looked into the Owl’s Nest Treatment Center as a possible solution and things started to change.

“I arrived at the Owl’s Nest and was greeted by all these women. It was something I never felt before… people just willing to do anything for you.”

From the beginning, Meghan felt a level of support and acceptance that she’d never had in other programs. It wasn’t just about getting sober—it was about not doing it alone.

“I met true friends there and made lifelong friends.”

Learning to Live Again

Like many of us, Meghan didn’t get it right the first time. Or the second. But she didn’t give up—and neither did The Nest.

“I was in and out of the program a couple different times because I still wanted to try things my way. Then eventually I gave up… and through the program I found lasting sobriety”

Meghan didn’t just stop drinking. She rebuilt her life.

“This program’s taught me how to live life. I’ve found myself through this program.”

What Meghan Has Now

The real magic of recovery isn’t just about what you leave behind. It’s about what you gain.

“Through this program, many things have come to me. I’ve gotten relationships back. I have a network—people that will tell me when I’m doing things wrong, when I’m making mistakes, when I’m starting to slip.”

Sobriety gave Meghan her life back. Owl’s Nest gave her the path to get there.
